History

The history of Van Maanen Koeltransport dates back to 1939, when Terus van Mannen and his brother-in-law, Gerrit van de Kolk, start a forage trade in Zwartebroek (near Hoevelaken). After the war, in 1953, the company is split and the forage trade is continued by Gerrit. Terus continues the transport company, in particular, the transport of sand and cattle. In 1977, Gijs and Jan van Manen take over their father's company. In 1989, the company moves to industrial site De Harselaar, halfway between Voorhuizen and Barneveld. In the early 1990s, the company goes through a difficult period. Gijs buys out his brother and becomes the sole owner, focusing on the groupage of meat and fish for the Italian market. Spain also becomes a fixed groupage destination. Since 2009, the company has been part of the Kotra Logistics holding, while retaining its own name.
